Thomas “Tom” L. Palethorpe, 65, of Lowell, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Tom was born on June 26, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the son of Thomas H. and Barbara L. (Johnson) Palethorpe.
Tom graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1971 and had worked as a die maker in the tool and die industry for many years. He had a life long love of sailing and had kept his sail boat for many years in Muskegon. Lake Michigan was his favorite lake to sail on. Tom was a talented man having a knack and a special gift in building computers. He enjoyed competitive shooting using vintage guns, hunting, camping and spending time with family and friends.
He married Deborah M. Spry on May 17, 1980 in Greenville and she survives along with his mother Barbara Palethorpe of Belding, his siblings; Debra Bentley of Long Lake, John (Gaila) Palethorpe of Belding, Debra’s family; Zelda Spry, Pat (Patsy) Spry, Mike (Connie) Spry all of Greenville, Steve (Gwen) Spry of Belding, several nieces, nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Palethorpe and father-in-law Howard Spry.
In keeping with Tom’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. A time to visit with his family will be 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted. Inurnment will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
