Shirley A. Hieftje, 88, of Belding, died Sunday morning October 18, 2020 at Green Acres in Greenville surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on October 31, 1931 in Belding, the daughter of Alvin and Mayme (Roll) Davis.
She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1950 and earned her cosmetologist license after high school. She proudly owned her owned and operated her own beauty parlor out of her home at East Washington Street in Belding from 1962-2013. Shirley enjoyed knitting, embroidery, and always could be seen enjoying her long walks around Belding. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church had a deep faith and love of the Lord. She had a big love of family and thoroughly enjoyed any time they were together. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Shirley is loved and survived by her sons; Charles (Sharon) Hieftje of Belding, Rob (Teri) Hieftje of Stone Mountain, GA, James Hieftje of Lowell, grandchildren; Charles (Amy) Hieftje, Jonathon (Hazel) Hieftje, Megan Farthing, Melinda Farthing, Brian Farthing, David (Katie) Hieftje, Thomas Hieftje, Kurtis Hieftje, Kollin Hieftje, great grandchildren; Ian, Kyla, Eloise, Oliver, Lacey, Oakleigh, two sisters; Beverly Zahm of Greenville, Pat Davis of Grand Rapids. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert and one sister Geneive.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 23, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father Phil Shangraw as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Committal prayers will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Belding. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Spectrum Health Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the funeral home.
