Robert Marsalese, 71, of Kentwood, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Mercy Health – St. Mary Hospital, in Grand Rapids. Robert was born on May 27, 1950, in Detroit, the son of Bernard and Liliane (Dufau) Marsalese. He graduated from Clawson High School, and later attended Grand Valley State University. He had served as a buyer for Amway Corporation for many years. Robert enjoyed vintage cars, especially owning his own VW Carmen Gia convertible. He also loved photography, and had taken countless pictures of people and scenery, and was an accomplished self-taught painter. He was especially proud of his Sicilian and French heritage. He is loved and survived by his children, Daniel (Cherith) Marsalese, of Belding, Joseph Marsalese, of Grand Rapids, Robert Marsalese, of Lowell, Christy Marsalese, of Grand Rapids, his grandchildren, Isaiah, Ezra, Miriam, his former wife and loyal friend, Julie Marsalese, of Grand Rapids, his siblings, Larry (Pat) Marsalese, of North Carolina, Marie Williams, Anthony (Jeff) Marsalese, and Rebecca (Kirk) Freeman, all of Detroit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Henry Marsalese.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be noon on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Paul Hulford officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Following the service, a luncheon will take place in the lower level of the First Congregational Church, 301 W. Washington Street, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
