Richard R “Dick” Ring Sr., 84
Belding—Richard R “Dick” Ring Sr., lifetime resident of Belding passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023.
He was born in Belding January 27, 1938, the son of Erval and Axa Ring.
Dick proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959 as an airman 1st Class serving 38 months in Germany. He worked for Gibson Refrigeration Co for 41 years before retiring in 2000. Dick was a Life member of the Belding VFW Auxiliary. He could be seen at all Belding Area sporting events; he just loved the Belding Black Knights and Labor Day festivities, especially listening to Todd Willingham and the Center Stage Band. Dick was also an avid Detroit Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Redwings, University of Michigan and Michigan State University Fan. His unforgettable long white beard will forever be his trademark. Growing up in a very large family meant having little and always willing to give up what you did have; because of that Dick was always willing to give you his last few bucks in his pocket, give you a ride to the other side of town, or buy you a Pepsi at the ball game; especially if you were one of his many grandkids.
Dick was married to the former Barbara Bailey on March 15, 1984, she survives him. Also surviving are his children Tammy (Bud) Brigham of Belding, Brenda (Terry) Brown of Greenville, Rich II (Sue) Ring of Belding, Barbara’s children Rose (Bob) McKeever of Belding, and Danny Russell of Belding. Grandchildren include; Chet, Candy (Mike), Nick (Monica), Joey, Jasmine, Heather (Nate), Rich III (Karlie), Sarah (Kyle), and Kayla (Pat), Courtney (Grant), Ashtyn (Carlos), AJ, John (Dusty), Janesa, Nikita, Jerika, and Draco, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, brother Art Ring of Belding, niece (raised as a sister) Barb Nash of Greenville, brother-in-law Richard Bodman of Greenville, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Virgil, Don, Ralph ”Buck”,
Charles “Nub”, Peter, Paul, Teddy Arthur, sisters Thelma, Anita, Evelyn, Wanda, Nina,
Juanita “Bonnie”, Sandra, Mary Margaret, son-in-law Al, and grandson Jon.
A special Thank-you to West Michigan Hospice for all the care, compassion, and love they provided; Sara, Sarah, Hannah, Carlotta, Jamie, Kim, Amanda, Jillain, and Aaron.
A special Thank-you to the staff of Mission Point Belding for their care, especially Dick’s great-grand daughter Rayna.
