Raymond R. Geiger, 71 of Ionia passed away Friday afternoon October 1, 2021 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Raymond was born on September 6, 1950, in Greenville the son of Raymond L. and Bernice (Schoenborn) Geiger. Raymond graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1969 and then served two years in the United States Army. After his Army years he graduated from Montcalm Community College and later worked 26 years as a corrections officer at the state prison in Ionia. In retirement Raymond enjoyed being part of the Michigan One Credit Union of Ionia. He had served on the loan committee and was a member of the board of directors. He was proud of his work at the credit union and the growth of the business over the past several years. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, canning vegetables, and making his famous salsa. He attended the Saints Peter/Paul Catholic Church of Ionia. Raymond will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and many friends He is loved and survived by his wife Yvonne, and their children, Veronica (David) Clack, of Ionia; Kelly (Ron) Dunn, of Sidney; Corey Geiger, of Ionia; Jayme (Mike) Alman, of Sidney; 9 grandchildren; and his 3 great grandchildren with one more on the way. His siblings, Carolyn Geiger; Wayne (Tami) Geiger; Greg (Pamela) Geiger; Phyllis (Larry) Lachniet; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Brian: his twin brother, Robert, and his sister, Jackie. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 6, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Jim Wyse presiding. Committal prayers and military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, after which a luncheon will be held in the hall. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home.
