Raymond D. “ Ray” Cook 89 of Lyons passed away Wednesday August 25, 2021 at home under the loving care of his daughter and Hospice. Ray was born on August 13, 1932 in Edmore, the son of Floyd and Irene ( Jones) Cook. He joined the US Air Force during the Korean War when he was just 17 years old. While he worked for many years as a truck driver, Ray was also a self-taught businessman, owning several successful bars and restaurants in Carson City, Saranac, and Fowler. He is survived by his children, Lori Brown, Connie Thelen both of St. Johns, Pamela (Mitch) Mally of North Carolina, Tina Theis of Lyons, Kevin ( Melody) Cook of DeWitt, Grandchildren, Douglas (Tami) Cook, Corey Cook, Joshua (Lauren) French, Jacob (Shandra) French, Alicia Drake, Jessica Thelen-Thomas, Jami (Erin) Thelen, Lindsey Terronez, Zane(Brandy) Crawford, Ashley (David) Reynolds, Shannon Crawford (Chris Carr), Brittney Trent, Amber Trent, Heather (Bryan) Sperry, Victoria Keener, Brandon Theis (Erica Sorenson), Justin Theis (Hadley Clayton), Kelsey Cook (Zach), many great grandchildren. His siblings, Jerry (Sandy) Cook of Belding, Donna Marshall ( Bill) of Gowen, Roger (Liz) Cook of Fowler and Kendall Cook of Saranac. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Irene (Jones) Cook, his wife, Janice Cook, two sons, Craig Cook and Jeff Cook, and his daughter, Mary Catherine Trent. Graveside funeral services and military honors will be 1:00 PM Saturday September 11, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Fowler on Grange Road. Following the services at the cemetery, a celebration of life will be at 2:00 PM at the Fowler VFW Hall. Please bring a dish to pass. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the service or Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted.
