Patrick Johnson, 83, of Belding, died Tuesday morning August 11, 2020 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus. Patrick was born on February 25, 1937 in Grand Rapids, the son of Elon and Loretta (Keena) Johnson.
In earlier years Patrick attended Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids and later proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired from the R. J. Tower Corp. where he worked as an electrician for 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding. Patrick enjoyed a variety of interests, which included metal detecting, playing steel guitar to country music, coaching boxing in Belding and being part of the Belding Boxing Club. He always tried to keep fit with many years of weightlifting. Patrick will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is loved and survived by his wife Gwendolyn and their children; Gerald P. (Tiffany) Johnson of Orleans, Mary Hattie, Gwendolyn (Joseph) Napieralski all of Rockford, his grandchildren; Salvador Chavez, Brendan Napieralski, Brett Napieralski, Trent Napieralski, Maleah Napieralski, Colette Napieralski, his siblings; Gerald Johnson of Grand Rapids, Raymond ( Tammy) Johnson of Florida, Robert ( Carol) Johnson of Howard City and Theresa ( Richard) Czarnecki of Florida. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Bellinda Johnson, a grandson John Paul Napieralski and a sister, Mary Dorias.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Friday August 14, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father Phil Shangraw officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Military honors will be given by the joint honor guard of the Belding American Legion & VFW. Memorials may be given to The Children’s Food Basket of Grand Rapids. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
