Norma Jean (Batey) Sawdy

Norma Jean (Batey) Sawdy, age 63, of Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids on January 5, 1960, the daughter of Jackie and Doris (Kiste) Batey. Norma was raised in Lowell, where she attended Lowell public schools. In 1978 she married Clifford Sawdy. Norma worked at Magna Donnelly as an assembler and in quality control for 23 years. When she was able, she attended Zion United Methodist Church of Ionia. Norma was a talented artist, she enjoyed drawing and painting. She also enjoyed traveling. Her favorite moments included spending time with family and cooking or baking for family gatherings. Norma is survived by her children, Brandy (Jennifer) Sheridan, Dan Sawdy, Linda (Jon) Richmond, and Tracy Youmans; boyfriend, Ryan Lindsley, son-in-law, Dj Ledger; grandchildren, Alisha (Gary) Radomske, Tabitha Bennett, Jacob Sheridan, Jeremy Sheridan, Henry Omongos, Alex Williams, Rebecca Radomske Churchill, John Radomske, James Nowitzke, Courtney Nowitzke, Anthony Radomske, Kimberly Ledger, William Hopkins Ledger, Allen Hopkins Ledger, Samantha Youmans, Joseph Vugteveen; sister, Linda (Melvin) Miller, brother, Jack Batey; stepbrother, Gordon (Cindy) Batey; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Sawdy; parents, Jackie and Doris Batey; son, Michael Sawdy; and daughter, Traci Ledger. Per Norma’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life for Norma will be held at a later date.
