Norma Jean Peabody, 84, of Muir, passed away on February 7, 2021 at the Laurels of Carson City.
Norma was born on April 26, 1936 in Lansing, the daughter of Ralph and Marguerite (Hughes) Morofsky. She worked for many years at the restaurants in Muir. She could always be found chatting people up and she loved all her customers at the restaurants. She was a people person and delighted in talking and being around people. She enjoyed trips to the casino, Detroit Tiger baseball, her morning trips to the Lumbermill Inn, playing cards with her lady friends; of which there are too many to list! But most of all she adored being a grandma and spending time with her grandkids. On July 25, 1959 she married James Peabody, and together they enjoyed over 52 years of marriage, until his passing in 2010. Norma was immensely proud of her marriage to James and she adored him.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Marth Hay of Muir, Sarah Husman of Grand Rapids, Rich (Julie) Peabody of Ionia, Beth (Tyson) Cowles of Lansing, 12 grandkids, 11 great grandkids, her sister Judy Platte of Detroit, along with many other extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son; William Peabody, a daughter; Denise Peabody, and her brothers; Chester Morofsky and Don Morofsky.
Funeral services for Norma will be held at 11am on Friday, February 12, 2021 at North Plains Community Church, 3965 Olmstead Rd, Ionia, MI 48846 with Pastor Greg Gladding officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday February 11, 2021 from 4-6pm also at church. Envelopes will be available at church or at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Norma may be directed to Ionia Area Hospice.
UPDATE: Family and friends, we will be laying mom in her final resting place on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Two days prior to her 85th birthday. She will be buried next to dad in the little cemetery across the street from where her funeral was. My siblings and I welcome anyone who would like to pay their final respects. We all miss her terribly. Thank you to everyone for their kindness and support. Love, Rich Peabody , Marth Hay , Sarah Husman and myself as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren, countless friends.
