Nathan G. Foley, 18, of Belding, passed away unexpectedly at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital on March 16, 2021. Nathan was born on April 11, 2002 in Greenville, the son of Michael and Jeanette (Haney) Foley. A senior at Belding High School, Nathan enjoyed taking day trips, ice fishing, keeping bearded dragons as pets, and camping. Nathan’s favorite hobby was playing video games, especially online gaming with family members and friends. He was remarkably successful with competitive online games, having won several tournaments and awards. Although his life ended far too soon, his family and friends take comfort in that his generous spirit will live on through the donation of his organs through the Gift of Life organization, he will help many people with life saving and life changing donations.
Nathan is loved and survived by his parents; Mike and Jeanette Foley, his brother; Andrew, adopted sister Shantel Underwood, his best friends; Austin Gallant, Alex Levine, Alainna Holnagel, Shakima Robinson, Logan Haney, his grandparents; Ann Haney of Belding, Bev Foley of Grand Rapids, John (Sue) Foley of Wayland, his aunts and uncles; Juliann (Brian) Denslow, Bevin (Darien) Rowland, Patrick Haney, Megan (Eric) Leiter; all of Belding, Kevin Meyers of Wayland, Aaron (Karen) Leopold of Indiana, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, Nathan will be forever loved by his family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Bryan Haney, Bernard (Philomena) Moon, Gerrit (Linda) Van Vels, Joyce Foley, Thomas Foley and step grandparents Glen ( Grace) Hurst and two step uncles Tom Strayer and Larry Strayer.
Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Shiloh Community Church (8197 Heth St, Orleans) with Pastor William Overton officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm, also at church. Committal prayers will follow the funeral at River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Memorial contributions in memory of Nathan may directed to the needs of the family as they cope with his sudden passing.
