Mollie "Putt" Crandall Obituary

Mollie “Putt” Churchill-Crandall, 92 of Belding died Sunday December 10, 2023, at Corewell Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Putt was born on September 3, 1931, in Shelby, the daughter of Robert C. and Esther L. (Legasen) Churchill. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1950 and later graduated from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree. Putt was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Belding, being active in the Bell Choir, taught Sunday School and was part of the Kate Shannon Fellowship. Putt had also helped with the Girl Scouts of Belding. She enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting and loved playing cribbage with Al Slosser and bingo with Becky Clark. Putt also went to Clown College with her friend, Jean Scheid in Florida and had the clown’s name of “ Bubbles”. Putt is loved and survived by her nephews and nieces, Chuck (Peggy) Mahar of Greenville, Tom (Laurie) Mahar of South Dakota, Matt (Percy) Mahar of Greenville, Chari (Terry) Johnson of Calumet, Pam (Vernon) Wittenbach of Delaware, several great nieces, great nephews and close friends, Al Slosser, Becky Clark, Marcia Geiger and Mary Lou Chickering.  Putt was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Lucky Mahar,  her brother-in-law, Charles “Bub” Mahar, her husband Jack Crandall and her dog, Shadow. Putt had asked for her remains to be donated to Michigan State University-College of Human Medicine in Grand Rapids for anatomical research.  No funeral or visitation will be held. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Congregational Church of Belding or a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, where funeral care has been entrusted.
