Matthew Allen Obituary

Matthew Jason Allen age 41 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday January 31st 2023.  Matt was born to become the pride and joy of his mother Dawn Allen on December 9th 1981.

To his family he was known as Ratty, and as the first born grandchild and nephew he captured the hearts of all his family. Especially that of his Grandma Jan (who we’re certain hasn't released her bear hug grip she has on him since their reunion in eternal peace). He was and always will be a grama’s boy, along with a mama’s boy, and his Aunt Laurie's first true love.

Matthew had a unique spirited soul and a love for all things life had to offer. Matthew had a mad love of food and was an exceptional cook, often referring to his favorite dishes as "bomb-delish". His unique laugh and beautiful smile could light up rooms and lift spirits. His love for his family and friends was genuine, and he took great pride being known as the protector of all, whether family or friend.

He made his mark and left this world a more beautiful place through agriculture. There was nothing he enjoyed more than creating life from Mother Earth. Tenderly caring and assisting through his nurturing soul to its fullest potential. Most stated and believed Matt could grow flowers on Mars.

Music filled his soul throughout his entire short life, he loved all genres, and was an expert Beat boxer and mixer. He dabbled in DJing in his youth and carried music over into adulthood by simply enjoying attending music festivals with close friends he loved. He raved about the ambiance festivals created and how it brought such joy amongst the crowds.

Creativity was the core of his DNA there was nothing Matthew could not create... his passion of glassblowing, woodworking and landscaping were stupendous. He simply would bring any vision he had to life by way of his hands. His giving caring personality often gifted these creations out to those who he loved which will be cherished by many for a lifetime.

Yet Matt's first and foremost greatest accomplishments were his children, Mason and Avery. Who both described their Daddy as courageous, strong, and compassionate. He at every chance had the two of them out in nature on some spectacular adventure. He dedicated his life to, and treasured every moment spent with his children. He installed all of his attributes and love into each of them. He treasured and embraced each moment he had with them and more often than not captured those moments through his love of photography and video. Matthew's memory and spirit will forever be felt through his children. Avery carries a deep love for adventure through her fearless spirit along with her acquired love of music and excellent beat boxing skills. Mason with his loving natured spirit will certainly make this world a more beautiful place just like his dad did.

Matthew is survived by his Grandfather Ronald D. Allen Sr., mother and stepfather, Dawn and Dave Cole. His children, Mason Allen, Avery Allen and his children's mother, Chelsea Yarnall. His uncles and aunts, Diane (Phelim) Cavlan, Ronald Allen Jr., Laurie Kennedy, Rod Kennedy, Jeff (Dani) Allen, Mary Kay Allen, Kevin (Holli) Allen, Wendy (Greg) Echter. Matthew's lifetime sidekick, Nathan Lee Allen and 26 other cousins and counting; as well as the uncountable amount of friends he had blessed with his beautiful soul and certainly impacted throughout his life.

Matthew will be missed beyond measure. Every second of every day. A Celebration of life for Matthew will take place at the VFW Post 4406 in Belding (114 N. Bridge St. Belding MI, 48809) at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February, 25, 2023. Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home is serving the family.
