Mary A. Magirl 82 of Greenville passed away Friday September 15, 2023, in Grand Rapids with her family by her side. Mary was born on July 18, 1941, in Belding, the daughter of Francis and Helen (Kline) Hofmann. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1959. After graduating, Mary moved to Washington, DC, starting a job at the Pentagon. While working there she met and fell in love with her future husband, John Magirl. In later years she was the branch manager at Independent Bank in Belding and later retired from Tower Automotive in Greenville, working in the office. Mary enjoyed serving as a volunteer with the Friends of the Alvah N. Belding Library and later at the Flat River Community Library in Greenville. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and had served on the finance council and had volunteered at St. Charles School. Mary had a big love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her dogs. She will be greatly missed. She was married on November 9, 1963, in Belding to John Magirl and he preceded her along with her parents and her daughter in law, Cindy Magirl. Mary is loved and survived by her sons, Dennis Magirl (Amy Thomas), David (Lori) Magirl all of Greenville, her grandchildren, Andrew (Lauren) Magirl of Rockford, Carter (Cassie) Magirl of Walker and her great grandchildren, Owen and Eleanor. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Monday September 25, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville with Father Phil Shangraw presiding. A luncheon will follow the funeral mass at the church. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 with a rosary prayed at 7:30 PM at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Alvah N. Belding Library or the Flat River Community Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church.
