Mary Heffron Obituary

Heffron, Mary Louise (Crowley) 3/14/1929.

Mary made her way peacefully home to eternity with her Lord on October 3, 2023, at the age of 94 years while residing at Maple Ridge Manor in Lowell, Michigan.

Mary was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 14, 1929, daughter of Eugene and Louise (Gillies) Crowley. She graduated from Caledonia High School and pursued a career as a Navy Wave; however, her poor vision kept her from continuing.

In life, Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to travel and party with her husband Clayton, going all over the world.  Mary loved her family deeply and stayed home full-time to care for them. Every night, promptly at 6 pm without fail, Mary had a nutritious meal on the table. She also enjoyed helping out the farm by selling peaches from the house.  One of her best traits was her ability to laugh at herself.  She would say something, and everyone would laugh, and she’d say “what”?  She never knew how funny she was.

She was a beautiful seamstress and made many clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. One of her favorite things in her life was dancing. She could really "cut a rug." She always said had she not been a homemaker she would have been a dancer. She volunteered her time teaching middle school students to dance for their gym class at St. Patrick school in Parnell. She danced in the annual St. Patrick variety show, choreographing the routines. She continued to dance through jazzercise well into her 80s. She also had a love for music and once, when asked her favorite quote, she said, "Life without music has no meaning." She was a talented painter. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and loved the family church at St. Patrick Parish, often devoting her time in volunteer projects.

Shy and quiet, many were not aware of the many talents she possessed. We will miss her more than words can say.

Mary is survived by her children; Sheila (George) Wright, Janice (Brad) Sykes, Timothy (Janet) Heffron, and her very special daughter, Christina Heffron, as well as her grandchildren: Shannon

(Pat) Biergans, Sherry (Dave) Sbraccia, Jessica Wright, James (Jassica) Heffron, Brendan Heffron, Ashley (Joel) Doezema, Maura (Kenny) Schwallier, Johanna, Maria (fiancé Collin), and Kierian Heffron and 14- great grandchildren. Mary also has a surviving brother, Bob (Barb) Crowley, Sisters-in-laws Mary Lou and Mary Ellen Heffron, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband of 53 years, Clayton, her sister Joan, brothers-in-law Ed Milanowski, Phillip Heffron, and Edward Heffron, sister-in-law Kathleen Wild and Rita Alberta Heffron, and nephews Victor Milanowski and Joseph Heffron.
