Mary Hoxie Obituary

Mary Louise Hoxie, 90, of Belding, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday,  December 4, 2021, in Lowell. Mary was born March 15, 1931, in Fairplains Township, Michigan, the daughter of William C. and Marjorie G. (Frost) Loper. Mary attended a one room schoolhouse in Fenwick and Greenville Public Schools. In earlier years, she worked at the Dime Store in Belding, and later as a seamstress making children’s clothing at Jolly Kids and Gill Manufacturing in Grand Rapids. Mary was an accomplished seamstress, making many outfits for her children, suits for her husband and for herself, and even sewing all her daughters’ doll clothes when they were young. She and her husband Richard enjoyed many trips to Canada to visit their son Randy and his family. She always kept a neat and tidy home, was a gracious hostess, was an excellent pie maker, and always enjoyed canning in the fall season. Besides an immense love for her family and friends, the life of Mary was always centered around her unending faith, love, and belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her quiet, determined Christian faith was with Mary her whole life. She faced the many trials and tribulations of life knowing that she would someday see her heavenly reward. The family takes great comfort knowing that even in the ending hours of her life, the faith Mary had in her Lord was never shaken.

Mary is loved and survived by her children, Jo and Tom Broughton, of Grand Rapids; Randy and Ruth Hoxie, of British Columbia, Canada; Jeanice and Jim Breimayer, of Lowell; her grandchildren Trenton (Cici) Broughton; Rachel (Darren) Schultz; Ryan (Jenifyr) Hoxie; Rodney (Alyssa) Hoxie; Royce (Tasha) Hoxie; Traci (John) Machinchick; Kelly Breimayer; Andy (Jose) Breimayer; Tonya (Cary) Foster; great-grandchildren, Miller, Tyson, Zachery, Janelle, Nolan, Emma, Sophia, Ava, Aiden, Lucas, Lilly, Violet, Jonas, Jackson, Garrett, Maddox, Grayson, Cypress, Alexander, Ian, Brooke, Liam, Cole, Reed, and her great-great-grandchild, Kaizey. Mary is also survived by her two sisters- in-law, Mary Loper, Mae Loper, a brother-in-law, Jim Christensen, and several nieces and nephews . A special thank you to Dianne Radey, Chris Moran and Ty Lamar. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, her siblings, Kenneth Loper, Meredith Loper, Keith Loper, and Joyce Christensen.
