Martha Stuits Obituary

Martha L. Stuits, 86, of Belding, passed away on Monday August 19, 2019 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Martha was born December 3, 1932, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Hoeksma) VanderMoere.  After graduating from Central High School, Martha went on to get her nursing diploma from Blodgett Hospital. She loved to knit, sew, travel to see her family; especially to Alaska to see her son.  She made the trip nine times and enjoyed fishing and camping while there. Most of all though, she enjoyed being around her family.  She especially loved her kids and grandkids, she had photos of her family in every corner of her house!

Surviving Martha are her children; Tom (Lori) Stuits of Anchorage, Alaska, Terry (Kara) Stuits of Belding, Julie (Joseph) Garnsay of Rockford, her grandchildren; Hunter, Tanner, Brenna, Austin and Connor and her great grandchildren; Hailey, Hayden and Harper, her siblings; James (Bea) VanderMoere and Mary Wiersma, along with many other extended family and friends and her cat of 16 years.

Honoring Martha’s wishes, no formal ceremony will be held. Martha will be laid to rest with her parents at Fairplains Cemetery in Grand Rapids.   Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Martha may direct them to the charity of one’s choice.
