Mark Edward Carey, 61, of Wyoming passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids. Mark was born on September 20, 1960, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of George and Donna (Schultz) Carey. He graduated from Hudsonville High School with the Class of 1979 and has worked as an iron worker in the construction industry for many years. He was currently working for Erickson’s in Grand Rapids and was a longtime member of the Ironworkers Local 340/25. Mark was a big hockey fan, a Cubs fan, enjoyed watching college basketball, and liked to fish. He liked riding motorcycles and owned several Harley Davidson’s. He was a good cook, had a love of family, worked hard his whole life, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was married on September 20, 1985, in Lowell, to Teresa L. Clemens. Mark is loved and survived by his wife Teresa, and their children; Kelsey Carey, Bert (Jenny) Carey, George (Amanda) Carey, and Ethan (Lexie) Carey, grandchildren, Royce, Iy’Ana, Shayla, Dean, Emerson, Madeline, Freya, and one more on the way in June, all of Grand Rapids, his siblings, Diana (Robert) Timmer, of Grandville, Karlene (Randy) Ritter, of La Porte, Judy (Mark) Olesen, and Vicki (Eric) Olesen, all of Chicago, Len (Ann) Slone, of Branson, Missouri, Darren (Heidi) Slone, of Wartburg, Tennessee, Scott (Staci) Ecenbarger, of Grandville, and Steve (Sarah) Ecenberger-Carey, of North Carolina, and his father, George Carey, of Hudsonville.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, and his brother Thomas Clemens.
Funeral Services will take place Friday, March 18, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor William Overton presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to The American Heart Association or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
