Leonard H. Krueger

Leonard H. Krueger, 86, of Palmetto, FL, formally of Belding, MI passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. Leonard was born January 27, 1936, in Detroit, the son of Leonard and Griselda (Smith) Krueger. He graduated from Melvindale High School and graduated from Alma College. Leonard was a Korean War vet, serving in the US Marine Corp. In the early 1960's he did his student teaching at Belding, and later became a full-time teacher for Belding High School, teaching government and driver's training, and retiring in 1992. Leonard had a variety of interests including, beekeeping, biking, fishing, golfing, sports and band school bus driver, summers at Lake Leelanau, water-skiing, and was a past honor guard member. He especially enjoyed time with family.  In earlier years Leonard was active at the First United Methodist Church of Belding, was active in the Lions Club, served on the Belding Planning Commission, and cherished spending time with family at the Hopkins farm. In 2004 he and Florretta became full-time residents of Florida.

Leonard is loved and survived by his wife of 65 years Florretta, their children Ken (Karen) Krueger of Oswego, IL, and Lynnetta (Jason) Hopkins of Belding; grandchildren Kayla Ford (Brandon), Krista Krueger, Kyle Haverstick (Liz), Kelsey Haverstick (Vlad), Kolton Hopkins and Karson Hopkins; great grandchildren Kason George Ford, Dawson Daedric Cran, and Bentley Mason Haverstick.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, their son Leonard C. Krueger, and his sister Patricia.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 4 — 8 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
