LaDonna M Root

LaDonna Mae Root 89 of Orleans passed away Friday July 21, 2023, at SKLD in Ionia. LaDonna was born on November 8, 1933, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Woods) Burley. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School with the Class of 1952. She was a longtime member of Shiloh Community Church and for many years had worked at Boyce Elementary School in Ionia, doing her duties as a teacher’s aide, playground helper and helping children one on one with reading and or doing math. She had a lifelong love of children, her family and a strong belief in her faith. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and doing crafts. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. LaDonna is loved and survived by her children, Nathan B. Root, Lynda( Randy) Winright both of Orleans, her grandchildren, Dana Root, Robert Root III, Daniel Winright (Ashley), Dylan Root, Gabrielle (Matthew) Warner, Kyanne Root, Becky Root, her great grandchildren, Rosealine, Noah W., Piper, Bennett, her daughter in laws, Naomi Root and Jenny Root both of Orleans, her brother Keith Burley of Muskegon and longtime friend, Bonnie Ferguson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepparents, Nathaniel and Melvina Burley, her husband Robert C, Root, two sons, Robert Root II, Thomas Root, her grandson Noah B. Winright and her  good friends, Mary Besson, Bette Miller  and Vergie Haverstick.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Friday July 28, 2023, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. The visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Following the funeral, a luncheon will be held at Shiloh Community Church. Committal prayers will be private at Woodard Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family.
