John Westly Snyder

John Westly Snyder, age 79, of Belding, passed away at Metro Health Hospital on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born in Lansing, MI on March 25, 1944, the son of Wavel and Lucille (Graham) Snyder. On November 28, 1970 John married the love of his life and mother of his children, Rose Lance. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family was the most important aspect of his life. He was a generous man with a large heart and was always ready to help those in need. Aside from his nurturing nature he was a funny man with an impeccable sense of humor. He would say he was the funniest man he knew. John was always ready to play an impractical joke on someone. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was always ready for an adventure. John will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Rose Snyder, children, Andy (Dawn) Snyder, Amy (Dennis Magirl) Thomas; grandchildren, Brittney (Max) MacDermaid, Kiera Snyder, Jackson Snyder, Emma Snyder, Amanda (Keven) Krieger, Heather (Jared Rittersdorf) Thomas, Hannah (Tyler Nichol) Thomas, Hailey (Andrew Clementz); great grandchildren, Lou MacDermaid, Roe MacDermaid, Kellen Krieger, Ozias Krieger; siblings, Tom (Carolyn) Snyder, Bill (Pat) Snyder, Dee (Phil) Brunk; special nieces, Kelly and Sergio Alex Villalobos and Paula Sanchez, Miranda and Patrick Kloostra and family; special family members, Arlene Horrocks, Felix and Diane Adame and family, Julie and Don Kronewitter and family, Mark and Jane Horrocks and family, Matt Horrocks and family, Spencer Shellenbarger and family, Taylor and Brice Pretzel and Lane; and several nieces, nephews and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack, Charles, Ralph, Carl and Alan Snyder; and sisters, Edna Falor, Betty Rowley, and Carol Ann Snyder. Funeral services for John will take place at Johnson- Feuerstein Funeral Home on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 am. Rev. Felix Adame will serve as officiant. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm the evening before, and Friday, an hour prior to the service.
