Joel S. Potter 70 of Belding died Saturday November 14, 2020 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids after an injury he sustained doing what he loved; working on his farm. Joel was born on April 22, 1950 in Grenville, the son of Dale and Dorothy ( Rodell) Potter. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1969 and later earned an associate degree from Ferris State University. He had worked as a service manager at Thomet Chevrolet in Lowell and later was an automotive investigator for the State of Michigan. Joel had a lifelong love of farming and working the land was what made him happiest. He liked working on cars and had restored several over the years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was married on September 18, 1993 in Rockford to Jeri L. Cody.
Joel is loved and survived by his wife Jeri and their children, Jason Potter of Belding, Erin ( Shawn) Hager of Caledonia, Brynn ( Dane) Sexton of Ada, David Chase of Charlotte, NC., his grandchildren, Owen, Aiden, Gracyn, Mattie, and Matthew, his siblings, Jerry( Pat) Potter of Grand Rapids, his twin sister, Jan ( Dan) Wilson of Saugatuck and Keith ( Jodi) Potter of Roanoke, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with his request, cremation has taken place and his family will remember him privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Farm Aid, (an organization formed to help sustain small family owned farms). Envelopes will be available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted.
