Jerold “ Jerry” Mohn 73 of Hastings, formerly of Belding died Tuesday evening December 22, 2020 at Spectrum Health- Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Jerry was born on August 8, 1947 in Kent County, the son of Bernard and Lucy ( Poortvliet) Mohn. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1965 and later retired in 2001 from Gibson’s in Greenville as a steel purchaser. He later went to work at D & W Foods in Rockford retiring in 2011. He enjoyed deer hunting and playing any type of card games with family and friends. He liked to cook as well and had a a pretty darn good recipe for chili. He was a member of the Old Gospel Church of Delton. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Jerry is loved and survived by his wife Iyleen and his daughters Marcie (Keith) Weber of Ft. Wayne and Heidi (Mark) Brand of Greenville. Step children, Bill Jarvela of Rose Hill, KS., Jim (Tonda) Jarvela of Belding, Lori Barrett of Cadiz, KY., Chris Christiansen of Allegan, Mary (Jim) Daniel of Hastings, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, with one more on the way. His siblings, Nellie Beverwyk , Betty (Carl) Harris, all of Hastings, Oscar (Joan) Mohn of Coral City, FL, and Linda (Al) Jenks of Sheridan, also survived by his special nephew Jeff Mohn who took him hunting every year. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Neil and Albert and a daughter in infancy. In keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids. A time to celebrate his life and accomplishments will be held later and be announced by Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted.
