James “Jim” W. Wilson, 92, of Belding passed away at Stoneleigh Hospice Residence in Lansing, on September 29, 2021. James was born on August 1, 1929, the son of William W. and Gladys ( Bartlett) Wilson Jim graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1947 and later retired from General Motors Corp. after many years of service. In earlier years he was active in the Little League Program in Belding, and always made time, if possible, to attend his children’s sports activities. He had a lifelong love of baseball and for a number of years managed a traveling baseball team of Belding residents. He enjoyed golf and was probably the biggest U of M fan in Belding. Jim was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. For many years he and his wife Bonnie spent their winters in Lakeland, Florida, where Jim worked at the Tigers Spring Training Camp. He thoroughly enjoyed working at the games in Florida and had met many of the past players. He had a love of family and was blessed with a long life.
Jim is loved and survived his children; Dan (Jan) Wilson of Saugatuck, Dennis “ Squeek” (Tammy) Wilson of Jenison, Pat (Liz) Wilson of Belding, Tim (Ellen) Wilson of Colorado Springs, CO., Tom Wilson of Belding, Annie (Allan) Rohn of Greenville, Pete (Leah) Wilson, Jamie Wilson (Tim Gill) all of Belding, 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie in 2020, and five sisters. In keeping with his wishes’ private family services will take place. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Belding Athletic Boosters Club. Envelopes will be available at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted. The family would also like to offer a special thank you to Ionia Area Hospice for the loving care given to Jim.
