James W. “Jim” Jorgensen, 84, of Belding, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday evening, March 19, 2022, at Spectrum Health in Greenville. Jim was born on October 11, 1937, in Grand Rapids, the son of Otto and Vera (Bidstrup) Jorgensen. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1956 and later worked many years as a die maker in the tool & die industry. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for many years, first working for the City of Belding and later for Grattan Township, Oakfield Township and Spencer Township. Jim also enjoyed helping his son-in-law, Don Hopkins, on the Hopkins Farm. He liked John Deere Tractors, enjoyed going to tractor pulls and watching MSU Basketball, playing golf, and playing shuffleboard. He had a deep faith in his Lord and was a member of Ashley Baptist Church in Belding.
Jim is loved and survived by his wife, Marie Jorgensen and their children, Sue (Don) Hopkins of Belding, Peg Jorgensen of Ludington, his grandchildren, Jason (Lynnetta) Hopkins, Jeremy (Tonya) Hopkins, his great grandsons, Kolton, Karson, Tyler, a sister, Janet (Arnold) Ditmar of Georgia, and his sister and brother-in-law Vera and Clinton Sanders of Greenville. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Michael, and one brother Robert.
Visitation will be 2-5 PM on Sunday March 27, 2022, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 28, 2022, at Ashely Baptist Church, Belding, with Rev. Dr. David A. Oliver officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at church. Inurnment will take place at South Sidney Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Ashley Baptist Church or Spectrum Health Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church.
