James Harris Obituary

James Edward Harris, age 59, of Belding passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born in Salyersville, Kentucky on May 10, 1964. James was adopted by William and Ima Gene Harris at a young age. He lived down the street from Merry Sherman who would become his childhood sweetheart. After graduating high school Jim immediately joined the Navy. He married Merry on September 18, 1982 after graduating boot camp. He proudly served four years in the U.S Navy. For 18 years, James worked at Central States Manufacturing as a machine operator until they closed their doors. Recently he had worked for Metric Manufacturing Co. for only a few months before being placed on disability due to health issues. James could be described as a bear, he was loud, boisterous and could be grumpy at times. Although he could be grumpy he was the friendliest person you could meet. He would often give a friendly wave to strangers when he was out and about. James was a jokester and loved to pick on his family, especially his wife and kids. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking his grandchildren out on the boat. James will be deeply missed by his wife of 41 years, Merry Harris; children, Mary (Sam) Carmon, Jamie (Chad) Eaves, Wesley (Elena Needham) Harris; grandchildren, Mathew Miller, Cameron Miller, Christopher Miller, Zander Carmon, Jasper Eaves, Gabriel Eaves, Keara Eaves, Aubrey Harris, Allison Harris; one great grandchild; parents, William (Joy) Harris, Imagene Crowles; siblings, Patricia Unglebower, John Thomas Harris, Linda Pinks, and Vicky Howard; special nephew, Jimmy Robinson; and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives; and best friend, Chris Miller. He was preceded in death by grandson, Devon Miller. A Celebration of Life for James will take place on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Family Life Center Church of God. Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home is serving the family.
