Francisco Acevedo Obituary

Francisco Acevedo, 89, passed away Wednesday evening, March 9, 2022, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Francisco was born on September 17, 1932, in Runge, Texas, the son of Ysodoro and Alvina (Torres) Acevedo.  He married Maria Ramirez on September 25, 1956 and lived in Texas until moving to Michigan in 1981. He retired from Kropf Orchards in Lowell, in 2008.  Francisco was known for being a character.  He was a hard worker, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked to work on cars and watch Big Time Wrestling.  He attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ionia and Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Belding.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Francisco is loved and survived by his children,  Frank, Jr. (Ofelia) Acevedo, Brownfield, Texas, Lupe (Mario) Tapia, Belding, Robert (Adeliada) Acevedo, Belding, Ramiro (Mary) Acevedo, Houston, Art (Rosa) Acevedo, Brownfield, Texas, Carlos (Mary) Acevedo,  Houston, Rudy Acevedo, Belding, David Acevedo, Belding, Daniel (Graciela) Acevedo, Belding, and Norma (Genaro) Munoz, Lowell, twenty-seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and his siblings, Lino Acevedo, Maria (Eddie) Rios, and Linda (Neto) Zapata.

Francisco was preceded in death by three great grandchildren, Kaley Sofia Acevedo, Caden Acevedo, and Ysabel Fernandez, his wife, Maria, his parents, his brothers Manuel Acevedo and Guadalupe Acevedo, his sister Josephine Chavez, and three sisters in law, Maria Acevedo, Maggie Acevedo, Virginia Acevedo, and a brother in law, Eloy Chavez.                    

Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with a Rosary prayed at 4:30.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Father Oscar Londoño presiding.  Committal Prayers will take place in the spring at Alton Cemetery, Lowell.  Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
