Eric Shugerman

Eric I. Shugerman 58 of Belding passed away Sunday morning September 2, 2018 at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice. Eric was born on October 5, 1959 in Detroit, the son of Martin Shugerman and Suzanne Freedman. After high school, Eric graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude. Eric had a lifelong love of music and was a talented drummer. He enjoyed many hobbies, mostly golf and fishing. He had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed learning, especially about science and biology. While he had worked as a chef for many years, he also thoroughly enjoyed being a substitute school teacher. Eric is a proud Detroit Lions fan! He, like many others, wanted the Lions to appear in the Superbowl while wearing the throwback long black socks. Eric had a love of family and will be greatly missed.

 Eric is loved and survived by his wife Laurie and their children; Amanda ( John) Row of Six Lakes, Travis David Richardson of Las Vegas, Brandon Shugerman, David Shugerman, his grandchildren; Brandon Michael Row, Ariel Ottora Row, John Thomas Row II, Jayden Dallas Row, Jordan David Row, his great grandchildren; Brandon, Bonnie and Ottora, his step mother Karan Burke of Virginia Beach, VA, step father John Dreifus of Farmington Hills, siblings; Richard ( Michelle) Shugerman of Las Vegas, Mark ( Shelly) Shugerman of Texas, Brian Shugerman of Virginia Beach, VA, Milton ( Lisa) Feldberg of Birmingham, MI, and longtime best friend David Goldman. Eric was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Private interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
