Ellis “El” Bailey, 92, of Stanwood, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, June 16, 2022, at home. El was born on April 15, 1930, in Grand Haven, the son of Forrest and Jenny (Wood) Bailey. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Japan. In earlier years he was self-employed in the automotive industry, and later was co-owner of Countryside Floral in Belding for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, was very talented at furniture refinishing, and was a kind and gentle man. He loved time spent with family, especially at the annual pumpkin hunt with his grandchildren.
El is loved and survived by his wife Jacklyn, and their children Vickie (Rick) Buckenberger, Candice (Terry) Fellows, Debbie Holman, Robin (Dale) Sidor, Kim (Jim) Haisma, and Jami Young, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
El was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Kenneth, William, and Donald, two sons, Brian and daughter-in-law Michelle, and Scott, and two sons-in-law, Steve Holman and Jamie Wilson.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No public service will be held. Cremations services were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan.
