Dorothy P. Edmonds, 97, of Belding, passed away Monday January 6, 2020 at home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. Dorothy was born on September 15, 1922 in Stanton, the daughter of Richard and Minnie (Butterworth) Case.
She graduated from Stanton High School and worked in a factory during World War II making armaments. After the war, she worked at Jolly Kids in Belding and later helped many people as an in-home caregiver and did babysitting. While working at Jolly Kids, Dorothy served as a union representative and attended a large union meeting in Atlantic City. While later in life Dorothy took many trips, the trip to Atlantic City was the one she spoke most often about. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and fussing with her flowers. She was blessed with a long life and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family.
Dorothy is loved and survived by her daughters; Peggy Shepard of Belding and Penny Edmonds of Ionia, her grandchildren; Charles Edmonds, Patrick (Tasha) Edmonds, Christopher (Kristie) Edmonds, Jessica Edmonds-Woltkamp, Joseph Edmonds, David Edmonds, Allen (Christina) Mason, Michelle (Miguel) Arellano, Bradford ( Kelly) Mason, Tereasa Groot, Josh Edmonds, Cassandra Edmonds, 32 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband William W. Edmonds, her sons; Chester Edmonds, William : Bill: Edmonds, Thomas Edmonds, a daughter; Patricia Edmonds and her siblings; Peter, Richard, George, Edna, Bertha, Tressa, Mabel and Mildred.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 10, 2020 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Pastor William Overton of Family Life Center Church of God, Belding officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Private interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Belding Library for Audio Books or Special Olympics. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
