Dorman F. Mason, 83, of Greenville, died Sunday afternoon April 18, 2021 at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Michigan. Dorman was born on January 22, 1938 in Belding, the son of Charles A. and Gladys B. (Jewell) Mason.
In earlier years he attended the Dorr Country School. With the outbreak of World War II all of Dorman’s older brothers had left to fight and Dorman had to quit school and work on the family farm. At a young age he learned the value of hard work, the ability to make do with just a little and the love of working the land. Dorman had worked several years in the warehouse at Indian Summer in Belding. He liked gardening, fishing, collecting trinkets, and enjoyed watching wrestling and the older television shows, such as Gunsmoke, Big Valley, Bonanza and the Walton’s regularly. Later in life Dorman enjoyed taking long bicycle rides and walking. He was a big fan of Elvis Presley and always had his hair styled just like Elvis. Our fathers high light was showing his unconditional love to his 4 daughters. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dorman was married to Charlene Clifford for 60 years and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2020. He was also preceded by his parents, 21 brothers and sisters and great granddaughter Breanna. Dorman is loved and survived by his children; Mickey (Burton) Sly of Crystal, Debbie (Rich) Sellers of Greenville, Terry (Jerry) Cassidy of Allegan, Melissa Garfield of Greenville, his grandchildren, Sarah (Scott) Clark, Rachel Sellers, Cassy “Scooter” Mason (Rudy Henry), Clayton ( Sarah) Holliday, Geanna Mason ( Brandon Ludwick), Troy (Brittany) Holliday, Jessica (Dustin) Johnson, Michelle Baker, Britney Byrne, great grandchildren, Caleb, Taylor, Kaitlynn, Damien, Chelsea, Kiera, Maleke, Alli, Celesity, Marcus, Hailee, Emma, Chole, Amelia, Desiree, Raylynn, Piper, Jaiden, Aiden, Izabella, Ariah, many nieces and nephews, siblings; Gerald Mason of Lowell, Jeanette Nelson of Grand Rapids.
A Celebration of Life Service for Dorman will be 1:00 PM Saturday April 24, 2021 at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Fredrick Barr officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at church. Inurnment will be in Orleans Township Cemetery on Friday May 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the funeral home.
