Donald N. Mason

Donald N. Mason, age 86, died Thursday, October 19, 2023 at his home in Belding.  He was born February 25, 1937 in Lansing, the son of Nathan and Emma (Renz) Mason.  Don owned his own construction business for many years, and was proud that his son Steve carried on that legacy.  He was generous and kind and enjoyed helping others, always putting their needs ahead of his own.  He was well known for his big smile and laugh.  Don was a devoted follower of Christ and longtime member of Smyrna Bible Church.  He loved the Bible and read it all the way through several times.  After 63 years of marriage, Helen preceded Don in death on February 25, 2023.  He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joe Gay and brothers, Bill, George, and Jack Mason.  Don is survived by his children, Deborah Sue Gay and Steven (Shelly) Mason, all of Greenville; grandchildren, Daniel Gay, Carmen (Brian) Durham, Leon Mason, Kesha (Eric) Zeemering, and Lisa Mason; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Strouse, Mary Mason, Deloris (Gene) Cummins, and Jim Mason; and special neighbors, Joe and Marie Boyd, who were more family than friends to Don.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Smyrna Bible Church, Rev. Roger Tahtinen officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home.  Interment will be in River Ridge Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be given to Smyrna Bible Church.
