Daniel Reed, age 85, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, surrounded by his children. The son of Robert and Elsie (Morris) Reed, Dan spent the majority of his youth in the Belding area. He graduated from Belding High School in 1957 being voted 'Wittiest and Friendliest Boy' as well as Class President. He was a member of FFA and many other social groups. He went on to MSU, then Central Michigan University where he met the love of his life, Nancy. They were married in June 1961, and raised 4 children. Dan was an early team member of the Catalog Division of Amway International and helped create and produce the Amway Members Catalog. In his later years, Dan went back to his roots working at the Hardware Store in Belding, as much to socialize as anything else. He loved being able to visit with his sisters on his lunch breaks! Dan had many jobs from his early years until retirement, making many friends along the way. Dan had a way of befriending those that others didn't, setting a wonderful example for his children. He was a great storyteller and always had a joke for you. When he wasn't working, his greatest joy was spending time in Indian River at their summer home, and spending time with his family.
