Clara Butler, 67 of Palo, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at her home. Clara was born April 11, 1955, in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Roy and Ellen (Burguess) Sargeant. She graduated high school in Pennsylvania and moved to Michigan in 1980. Clara was blessed with the ability and desire to care for people around her. Family, neighbors, or friends could depend on Clara to help with meals, cleaning, appointments, or even helping with end-of-life issues. She had a love of family and friends and will be greatly missed. In earlier years she enjoyed playing Euchre, crocheting and making her famous homemade bread.
Clara is loved and survived by her husband Larry and their children, Sherry (Jess) Bennett of Harrison, Scott Butler of Ionia, Lori (Jamie) James and Terri Butler both of Raleigh, North Carolina, her grandchildren Alyssa Bennett, Kayleigh James, Jared Bennett, Emalee Butler, Parker Jones, Preston James, and Lexie Butler, her great grandson Princeton, her siblings Linda (Gerald) Tice of Alabama, Joe (Lucy) Sargeant of Pennsylvania, Norman Sargeant of Greenville, and Donna Sargeant of Palo.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dan Burguess and Roy Sargeant, sister-in-law Sue, and her best friend Rhonda Sue.
A time of visitation will be Friday, September 16, 2022, from 10-11 AM followed by a brief prayer service at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, led by Pastor Mike Simmons. Memorials may be given to the Ionia Community Awareness Fund.
