Chris Snyder

Christopher R. Snyder, 62, of Belding, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 20, 2024, at Corewell Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. The son of Wavel (Ralph) and Sandra R. (Mason) Snyder, Chris was born in Ionia on May 29, 1961. He was a 1979 graduate of Belding High School. On November 26, 1983, he married Karen Poling at the Belding First Church of God, and they would celebrate forty years of marriage together. He retired from Amway after twenty years of working as a project coordinator.

Chris loved anything to do with the outdoors. He rode motorcycles, went hunting and fishing, and enjoyed being around the water and swimming. He could sit for long periods of time just enjoying an evening campfire at his cottage in Remus, Michigan. A strong believer in his faith, Chris was not ashamed to share his love for and commitment to Jesus Christ with others. He was confirmed through the Lutheran Church in 1977 and was a long-standing member with the Family Life Center Church of God in Belding. Chris absolutely loved his family and the time spent with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed here by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Snyder, of Belding; his mother Sandra Snyder, of Belding; his children Ryan (Katrina) Snyder of Greenville and Shireen (Mark) Fay of White Lake; his siblings Bonnie (Dwight) DeRooy of Grand Rapids, Wendy (Matt) Smith of Blakeslee, Ohio, and Joshua Snyder of Greenville; grandchildren Sophia Fay, Mark Fay Jr., Jackson Fay, Emylia Snyder, Noelle Snyder, along with several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Wavel and his brother Joe.

The celebration of Chris’ life will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the Family Life Center Church of God, 8683 Storey Road, Belding. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Chris’ pastor and good friend, Bill Overton will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Clear Lake Cemetery in Fenwick.
