Charles Guy “Charlie” Jeffrey, age 71, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his home in Cedar Springs surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 20, 1952 in Greenville, the son of Martin and Sarah (Hopkins) Jeffrey. Charlie was an outdoorsman who especially loved fishing. He also enjoyed camping, kayaking and hunting. A true people person, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He was generous and kind, and would give anyone the shirt off his back. Charlie had a special love for his family, and was a very devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bill Hopkins; and siblings, Joyce Slayton, Kenneth Krick, Phyllis Jeffrey, Alice DePue, Martha Enbody, and Gary Jeffrey. Charlie is survived by his daughters, Toni Smith, Kerri Hopkins, and Amanda Jeffrey; grandchildren, Don (Samantha) Whitehurst III, Sebastian Whitehurst, Andrew Whitehurst, Roy Silvernail, and Ashley Silvernail; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Grace, Drew, Zakiya, Kingston, Don, Aariah, Wyld, and Aamiria; siblings, Robert (Betty) Krick, Martin (Carol) Jeffrey, Larry Jeffrey, Julie Bradbury, and Patricia (Rev. Craig) Pahl; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with visitation Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the service. Charlie’s brother-in-law, Rev. Craig Pahl, will serve as officiant, and graveside services will immediately follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the needs of the family.
