Charlene Saladin Obituary

Charlene Marie (Insley) Saladin, aged 85, of Belding went to meet her husband on April 7, 2024. Born on September 3, 1938 in Smyrna, she was the daughter of Howard & Arleen (Lockwood) Insley. She was a 1956 graduate of Belding High School. On August 31, 1957 she married Peter R. Saladin and together they raised nine children in the Belding area.

Cheney was a fun-loving human who loved to laugh, go on adventures big and small, she was a fabulous cook, enjoyed her family and friends and always looked at the bright side of things. Cheney spent many years working as a dietician at the United Memorial Hospital in Greenville and eventually retired in her role as head dietician at Metron in Cedar Springs.

Cheney is survived by her children, Pamela Saladin, Patricia Saladin, Catherine Stevens, Connie Saladin, Peter (Julie) Saladin, Christina (Dave) Heaton, Patrick Saladin and Carrie Saladin; her sister Cherri Insley; brothers Jeff (Audrey) Insley and Robert (Lisa) Insley; and a great number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cheney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; her brother, Gordon (Buddy) Insley; her sister, Lorane Edwards; daughter, son in law, and granddaughter, Cindy, David & Chelsea Hoaglin; and grandson, Joshua Stevens.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 11 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, with a Rosary prayed at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Parnell, with Rev. Greg Veneklase as celebrant. A luncheon will follow Mass. Interment will take place at Smyrna Cemetery.

Because of Cheney's avid love for reading, memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Alvah N. Belding Library, 302 E. Main St., Belding, MI 48809.
