Carol J (Tannis) Nielson

Carol J. Nielson, 80, of Belding, passed away Monday morning, August 29, 2022, at Mission Point in Cedar Springs.  Carol was born December 8, 1941, in Ionia, the daughter of Russell and Gretrude (Tannis) McCaul.  She graduated from Lake Odessa High School, and in her younger years worked as a nanny.  She was a past member of the Mom’s Club of Saranac, and enjoyed crafts, knitting, and crocheting.

Carol is loved and survived by her children John (Lisa) Clark, Sara Clark, and Leon Nielson, Jr, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother Lester (Janice) McCaul, sister-in-law Donna McCaul, her husband’s siblings, Helen (Gordon) Douglas, Russell (Brenda) Nielson.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon Wayne Nielson, Sr., sisters Mary McCaul and Virginia Creighton,  brothers Benjamin McCaul, Robert McCaul, and Carl McCaul, and a grandson Mason.

Graveside funeral services will take place Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2 PM, at Sunset Memorial Garden in Ionia, with Pastor Byron Davey officiating.  Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral home, Belding, has been entrusted with her care. Memorials made be made to Heartland Hospice.  Envelopes will be available at the service and at the funeral home
