Carl Hoag Obituary

Carl Edgar Hoag (78) of Belding passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024 at Corewell Health’s Butterworth campus. He was born August 15, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MI. Carl and his wife raised their family in Belding and have been longtime residents. He retired from Electrolux after 34 years of employment as a millwright. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the Belding Sportsmen’s Club with his son. His greatest joy was being with family. He was a wonderful husband and father, but he excelled in his role as “Pa”. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce (Hopkins) Hoag. Son, Michael (Rebel) Hoag; their children Brooke Krueger, Aimee (Donny) Smith, Mac Conley, Michael (Heather) Conley. Daughter Sonia (William) Stacey, their children ; Joshua (Dani) Peterman, Lacie (Bo) Waldorf, Zachary (Angie) Peterman, Trevin Hammar, and Grayson Falconer. Daughter, Melissa Barnes; her children Kali (Jeremy)Hoag, Douglas (Molly) Barnes, and Leah Barnes. John Wagar who was like a son. Great grandchildren, Jeremy, Kaius, Jazmyn, Sophia, Malia, Willa, Hazy, Kenzie, Eli, Logan, Ashton, Ella, Ava, Vincent, Mason, Brayden, and Grace. Sisters, Charlotte (Rob) Sneider, Karen (Larry) Wellman, and Sharon Ward. Brother, Mark (Joy) Childs. Sister in law, Loia (Kenneth) Leonard. Brother in law, George (Peggy) Gomez. Many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie (Hoag) Perry, sister and brother in law, Sheila (Denny) Parks, brothers in law and sisters in law, Rocky (Dar) Hopkins and Danny (Vicki) Hopkins. Son in law Douglas Barnes. Nephews, Jerry Toth and Ben Leonard. Niece, Joyce Hopkins. Many aunts and uncles.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will be hosting a celebration of life luncheon at a later date. For those wishing, memorial contributions in memory of Carl may be directed to the Right Door Food Pantry.
