Barbara J Wood

Barbara J. Wood, 84, of Belding, passed away Tuesday evening, August 23, 2022, at home, under the loving care of her family and hospice.  Barbara was born on May 14,1938, in Greenville, the daughter of Guy and Elaine (Johnson) Lake.  She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1990, through the Adult Education program.  In earlier years she had worked at Chrysler in Lyons, Jolly Kids in Belding, Wolverine in Rockford, and later at Leppinks Supermarket.  She enjoyed painting and feeding and watching birds.  She had a big love of family and will be greatly missed.

Barbara is loved and survived by her children Michael Nielsen of Belding, Brenda (Randy) Sexton of Stanton, Kim (Martin) Burns of Bellevue, and Eric (Theresa) Nielsen of Belding, her grandchildren Andrew (Kacie) Nielsen, Natalie Nielsen, Brandi (Bill) Blizzard, Brittney Sexton and her fiancé J.R. Burrmeister, Magen (Leo) Pease, Alex Burns, Julie (Justin) Andersen, Erika (Kyle) Johnson, and Brandon Nielsen, her great grandchildren Kaleb, Remington, Gavin, Corbin, Audrey, Evyn, Luella, Kolt, Brecken, Brock, and Brooks.  Barbara is also survived by her sister Laura (Ross) Hoekstra of Rockford.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Wood, sister Shirley Freund, and brother Robert Lake.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding, with Pastor Mike Simmons officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Belding Library, Belding Museum, or the American Cancer Society.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
