Amanda Swan Obituary

Amanda Mae Swan, age 39, of Orleans, passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. She was born in Greenville, on July 23, 1983, the daughter of Gerald Duane Swan and Nancy L. Burgess. Amanda has lived in Orleans most of her life. She attended Belding High school where she participated in Track, Cross Country, and Band. She graduated in the class of 2002. After graduating high school she went on to Ferris State University in Big Rapids. She majored in Education. Amanda had an undying love for teaching and caring for children. She would leave her education behind to start a family and care for her own two children. For many years, Amanda worked at Meijer grocery store in Greenville. She would rediscover her love for children when she was hired as a Lead Teacher in the infant room at Kinder Care in Grand Rapids. Not only did she love babies, but she also had a love for motorcycles, and enjoyed bowling in a league with her family. Amanda was an outgoing, loving individual. She was kind and loved to be around people and always made sure to make everyone feel included. Amanda will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Gerald Swan and Nancy Burgess; children, Lewis Lanning and Mackenzie Swan; brothers, Gerald Duane Swan II, Jeremy Wilson, and Trebor Gill; special family; Dennis Winters; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Amanda was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Joseph Deaton. Funeral services for Amanda will take place at the Johnson- Feuerstein Home in Belding, on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place at the funeral home Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Pastor Bill Overton will serve as officiant. A private family graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The family invites guests to a luncheon provided by Family Life Center Church of God on M-91 following services. For those who wish to make a donation, memorial contributions may be made to the needs of the family.
