Theodore " Ted" R. Hessler

Theodore  R. “ Ted’ Hessler 91 of Grattan Township, Belding died Saturday evening May 25, 2019 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Campus in East Grand Rapids. Ted was born on September 12, 1927 near Belding, the son of Lyle and Fern ( Cranmer) Hessler. He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of  1946 and later attended Aquinas College. He was a member of the Belding-Ionia Masonic Lodge, served on the Belding Area Schools Board of Education,  was active with the Montcalm Community College Foundation and many other area organizations. Ted was married on June 15, 1957 in Greenville to Betty Petersen and she preceded Ted in 2009. He was also preceded by his parents and a brother and sister in law; Jack and Beverly Hessler. Ted is loved and survived by his children; Janet Karasiewicz, Steven Hessler ( Anna Shear) Eric ( Terese) Hessler all of Belding, his grandchildren; Johanna Karasiewicz, Samantha Karasiewicz ( Kyle Kohn) Jacob Karasiewicz, his great grandson; Jackson Fuller, a sister; Patricia O’Connor and a brother; David Hessler both of Belding, his special nieces and nephews; Jodi Jakeway and her family, Patti and Paul Brant and their family and Danny and Suzanne O’Connor and their family.

In keeping with his wishes, a private family service has taken place at Bostwick Lake Cemetery. A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday May 29, 2019 from 4-8 pm at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to the Alvah N. Belding Library or the Montcalm Community College Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
