Roy A. Tift, 92, of Alma formerly of Belding passed away Sunday August 4, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Roy was born on January 2, 1927 in Belding, the son of Delbert and Maude (Pierson) Tift Sr.
He graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1944 and later proudly served in the US Army during the closing months of WWII in the Pacific Theater and during the Occupation of Japan. After the war he returned home and later worked at Extruded Metals in Belding, retiring after 35 years of service. Roy was a longtime member of the Ionia-Belding Masonic Lodge No. 355 F&AM. He was married on May 28, 1949 at Pleasant Lake, IN to Marilyn Goodrich and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother Delbert. Roy is survived by his children; Rebecca (William) Tift-Barcy of Rockford, Daniel (Marian Oleszkowicz) Tift of Ada and his three grandchildren; Benjamin, Clara and Andrew.
Private family graveside services will take place at River Ridge Cemetery, Belding. No public visitation or funeral will take place. Memorials may be given the Ionia-Belding Masonic Lodge. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
