Rosie Scheid Obituary

Rosemary ‘Rosie” Scheid 88 of Belding passed away Friday evening August 30, 2019 at Lacey’s Too AFC,  near Lowell. Rosie was born on September 3, 1930 in Sparta, the daughter of Peter and Elsie (Armock) Steffes. She graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1948. Rosie worked for  32 years at Leppinks Food Center in Belding, retiring in 1992  as the Deli Manager. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding where she had set up and worked on countless funeral luncheons, helped clean the church on Monday mornings and worked at many of the annual Labor Day Luncheons. When not at church Rosie enjoyed golfing,  knitting,  sewing and making quilts. Her beautiful quilts were truly works of love. Rosie had a love of family and friends and would help at a moments notice. Her love and friendly smile will be greatly missed by all.

Rosie is loved and survived by her children; Laurinda ( Ed) Neve of Belding, Randy McCormick ( Michele Thompson) of California, Ronald ( Chris Stickland)  McCormick of Virginia, son in law; Brian Smith of Greenville, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and her brother Donald Steffes of Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Sis Laux, her brother Bud Steffes and daughter Brenda Smith. Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon Saturday September 7, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father Mark Bauer as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM with a rosary prayed  at 7:30 PM at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Visitation will also be one hour before mass at the church.   Committal prayers will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Memorials may be given to Sisters in Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
