Gerald F. Bissell

Gerald F. Bissell, 77, of Fenwick, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 20, 2018 at home. He was born on May 17, 1941 in Greenville, the son of Fay and Leona (Schooley) Bissell.

He graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1960. Gerald retired in 2003 from the Attwood Corp in Lowell after many years working in the maintenance department. Gerald had a life-long love of music starting at age seven with country music and later gospel. He was blessed with a special gift of playing any type of music and loved sharing his talents with all. He was inducted into Michigan’s Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a longtime member of Shiloh Community Church and played many times at church and other venues all around Michigan. He thoroughly enjoyed just a good old-time gospel music jam. He had a love of family and friends, enjoyed hunting, fishing and will be greatly missed by all.

Gerald was married on October 10, 1965 in Orleans to Patricia Roberts. Gerald is loved and survived by his wife Patricia and their children; Bill Bissell of Belding, Bonnie A. and Gary Wilson of Coto de Caza, CA, Penney and Niles Timm of LaPorte, TX, Rodney F. Bissell of Cedar Springs, grandchildren; Christin, David, Chad, Grant, Derek, Monica, Heather, Dustin, William, Ashley, Kody, several great grandchildren, his brother Ken and wife Lynne Bissell of Gowen, his uncle Eugene Bissell of Greenville, his aunt Shirley Schooley of Newaygo, many close friends, and all his special music friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A time to celebrate his life and music will be 2:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
