Gavin Anderson Obituary

Gavin Michael Anderson

Sept. 20, 1966-Nov. 1, 2018

Son of Jim and Karla (Geiger) Anderson whose affectionate name for him was Gavio.  Gavin has a sister, Ashlin married to Sergio Saldivar and they have a daughter, Gabrielle and a son Sairge. Gavin began preschool at Kentwood Montessori then spent one year at Sherwood Park Elementary under the precious care of the principal, Dr. Deeb while his mother went to WMU.  Gavin finished his elementary school years at Marywood Academy then graduated in 1985 from Grand Rapids Catholic Central.  He played basketball, was the shortstop on CC’s state championship baseball team and was all-conference in golf.  He continued to play baseball while furthering his education.

Gavin married Daneena Dickson Oct. 12, 1996.  Gavin enjoyed his father-in-law Darwin as a hunting companion, his mother-in-law Suzanne’s cooking and also the friendship of Daneena’s brother Darwin, his  wife June and their family. Daneena’s grandmother, Donna Hooker was admired by Gavin and shares a special bond with Daneena. Gavin and Daneena had two sons together, Titan Parker and Sterling Makahl.  As a loving and dedicated parent he nurtured their sons’ love of sports in which Gavin often coached.  Both boys played baseball, basketball and were quarterbacks at Lowell High School.  The boys have become fine young men and were Gavin’s pride and joy.  Gavin has worked by his father’s side at their business Unique Products and has been an apprentice to his dad since he was ten years old.  Gavin developed the ability to design and build special fabrications some of which were trampoline frames used in a Rose Bowl Parade and the movie Pan for Warner Brothers England.

In addition to his family Gavin had many close friends and relatives who cared for him deeply.  The Andersons are grateful for their support during his illness.

Gavin’s greatest comfort and companion was his Weimaraner Peyton better known as “Snoop”.  He preceded Gavin in his journey and is surely there to welcome him.

“Memories are precious.  They are the prizes of each journey”.
