Ethel M. Powers, 86, of Orleans, passed away on Friday evening, July 26, 2019 at home under the loving care of her family. Ethel was born on May 17, 1933 in Howard City, the daughter of Frank H. and Winifred (Allen) Robinson.
On June 26, 1950, Ethel married Lawrence Powers and together they enjoyed over 59 years of marriage until his death on October 1, 2009.
Ethel was known to love being at home, she enjoyed watching the birds, playing harmonica, fishing, rock collecting, spending time with her family, selling Avon for a time, teaching Sunday school and attending Shiloh Community Church. She was also known to be a mom to all the neighborhood kids, and most of them would even call her mom.
Surviving Ethel are her children; Larry (Ginger) Powers of Cornell, MI, Rita Matthews of North Carolina, Traci (Tom) Workman of Orleans, Tina (Thor) Thorbjornsen of Escanaba, Charles (Mary) Powers of Greenville, 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, her sisters; Marguerite Nickel, Donna Robinson, Catherine Graber, along with many other extended family and friends.
Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandsons; Michael Powers, Justin Matthews and several of her siblings.
Funeral services for Ethel will be on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at 11:00am at Shiloh Community Church with pastor Ken Harger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Contributions in memory of Ethel may be given to Shiloh Community Church.
