Elvon Anton Rasmussen

Elvon Anton Rasmussen, 94, of Easton Township, passed away Saturday evening, November 24, 2018 at Saint Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital in Ypsilanti. Elvon was born on December 27, 1923 at home, the son of John and Sylvia (Snell) Rasmussen. 

Elvon graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1940. He married Alice Swanberg on July 26, 1945 in Easton Township. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Ionia.  Elvon served 14 years on the Ionia County Board of Commissioners and was chosen chairman for 11 years. He was an avid farmer, a long time member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, raised certified seed and sold to area farms and elevators. Elvon will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is loved and survived by his children; John (Judy) Rasmussen of Freeland and Karen (Jeff) Stroven of Brighton, nine grandchildren; Jason Rasmussen, Jennifer (Todd) Kammer, James (Jennifer) Rasmussen, Hans Stroven, Sven Stroven, Kirsten (Pedro) Verissimo, Dana Stroven, Greta Stroven and Freya Stroven and three great-grandchildren; Alayna, Austin, and Emily Kammer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years,  parents and two brothers Duane and Harold.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday December 3, 2018 at Zion United Methodist Church, Ionia with Pastor Larry Nalett officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Easton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Zion Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at church or at Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home where funeral care has been entrusted.
