Elinor Jane (Jones) Hubbert was born on October 6, 1931, the daughter of Emmet and Elwilda ( Gardner ) Jones in Godwin Heights, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She joined an older sister Ethelyn and a brother Elmer. She had a sister Erma who joined the family a few years later. Her family moved from Grand Rapids to Levering, Michigan, then to Barryton, her parent’s hometown, then to Saranac, to St. Johns and later to Ionia. Elinor attended Ionia High School for three years and then went to Spring Arbor High School/Junior College and graduated from the 12th Grade in 1951. In the 12th grade she met Robert Hubbert and they were married on January 16, 1952 in Ionia. They lived in Ionia after getting married where two of their boys were born, LeRoy and Larry. From there they moved to Belding to be closer where Robert worked. Two more children were born there, Bethany and Robert . They lived in Belding until Bob’s retirement in January of 1995. They then moved to Owosso to be closer to their daughter. Elinor was involved in church work at the Belding Free Methodist Church, including as Sunday School Superintendent, teaching class, C.Y. C. Work, song leader and secretary for the official board and society.
Elinor and Robert enjoyed their winters in Lakeland, Florida at Light & Life Park of the Free Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, a sister Ethelyn, a son Robert , twin granddaughters; Erin and Robin, and two sisters in laws; Barbara and Darlene. Elinor loved her family very dearly as well as her Lord and church. She is survived by her brother Elmer ( Dora) Jones, a sister Erma Small, two sons; LeRoy ( Cindy ) Hubbert, Larry ( Sue) Hubbert, a daughter Bethany ( Mike) Dow and a daughter in law; Laurie Hubbert. She has seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother in law Harold Hubbert, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many cousins
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at the Lakeview Free Methodist Church, (110 Edgar Street Lakeview, Michigan 48850) with her nephew Pastor Chuck Hubbert officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at church. Private interment will be at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
