Bessie M Marshall

Bessie M. Marshall, 73, of Belding, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, February 5, 2019 at home. Bessie was born on January 29, 1946 in Greenback, TN, the daughter of Elmer W. and Rose L. (Poole) Johnson.

Bessie had made Belding her home for the past several years. Throughout her life Bessie was a kind, caring and loving person starting first as a mom, grandma, great grandma and great great grandma. She had cared for and helped members of her family, older neighbors, people under hospice care and those just needing a helping hand. With her love and support many people were able to stay in their homes longer and enjoy a better quality of life. She enjoyed talking with family and her Belhaven friends. With her heart so caring and loving she also had served as a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Bessie is loved and survived by her children; Karen (Bo) Eley, Laura (Joe) Collins all of Howard City, Sam (Lisa) Cowley of Cedar Springs and Nettie (Ron) Manning of South Carolina, grandchildren; Angela Hamilton, McKinley Hamilton, David Hamilton, Eric Cowley, Brittany Cowley, Alyssa Cowley, Ashley Vitale, Noah Vitale, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, siblings; Phyllis (Ralph) Willis and Daryl Johnson all of Evart. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Verla Jo and Frances and two brothers; Delbert and Richard.

In keeping with her wishes no formal funeral will be held. A time to celebrate Bessie’s life will be 4:00-6:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Johnson Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
