Nancy Ann Shelton-Richmond, age 77, of Stanton was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, October 8th 2017. She was born June 1st, 1940 in Cadillac Michigan, the daughter of George and Ethel Westman. Nancy attended and graduated from Belding High School in 1958 with honors. She played many years as catcher of her school softball team. She continued her education earning degrees in nursing and accounting from Michigan State University. Nancy began working as an emergency care nurse at Belding Hospital and then at Electrolux as a shop nurse. In a career shift there; she became an expediter/purchaser until her retirement in 2002. Nancy was very active in her children's lives through Awana, teaching Sunday School, Girl-scouts, horseback riding and family camping. She served as president and secretary/treasurer in the Coral Women's Auxiliary. Nancy later married Gary Richmond and resided at Lake Stanton. After retirement; they were members of the Central Montcalm Community Church; she as their librarian. Wintering in Florida; Nancy found pleasure as the librarian, water aerobics instructor, "tooting her horn" in the "Retirement Band", active in the Red Hat Society, playing Bingo and Shuffleboard at their retirement community. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she loved having them come to visit. Nancy was an avid book reader, loved solving logic puzzles, her daily newspaper crossword, crocheting, crafting and her flower gardens. She was a huge Michigan State fan, rivaling her husband's love of U of M. She also loved watching her Detroit Tigers and Lions. Nancy will be forever remembered and missed by her children: Cynthia (Ken) May, Kristen Stevenson, Cheri (Mike) McGarvey all of Coral and Jerrold (Kari) Westervelt of Pierson, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and the children and families of her late husband: Vicci Richmond of Saranac, Lary (Tammi) Richmond, Dale (Christina) Richmond, and Joddi (Rob) Lake all of Belding. Also surviving are her siblings: Carol June (Joe) Southwick, Dennis Westman, Phil Stone, Karen (Jay) Duquette and Richard Rittersdorf and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband Gary, her parents and siblings: Sandra Stone, Gay Rittersdorf, Jerrold Westman and Terry Westman. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on Wednesday, October 11th at the Pierson Bible Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Wallace officiating. The family will greet friends at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Belding, Tuesday evening from 6 - 9 pm and prior to the service. There will be a private burial at the Coral Cemetery.
